Parc Guertin, unveiling event and refreshments

Hello JARA neighbours,

There will be the unveiling of an interpretation panel on ‘ice harvesting’ at Guertin Park on May 25 at 5pm. Ice cutting for our ice boxes was a thriving industry here, in front of Guertin Park. We will have descendants of the ice harvesters coming to celebrate and honour these brave workers who laboured in dangerous conditions for us to have the luxury of ice. Il s’est passé beaucoup de choses depuis que nous avons décidé de créer, il y a maintenant 3 ans, un panneau d’interprétation pour souligner le travail des marchands de glace locaux et une partie importante de l’histoire d’Aylmer.
J’ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que nos efforts ont porté fruit et que nous en sommes rendus à l’étape du dévoilement.

Vous êtes cordialement invité à assister à cet événement spécial. Voici les détails :
Quand : le mercredi 25 mai de 17 h à 20 h
Où : au parc Guertin, 33 rue Oscar-Guertin, secteur Aylmer
Veuillez apporter votre chaise de jardin et BYOB pour après l’évenement.

Si la température est inclémente, cet événement se déroulera le jeudi 26 mai au même en droit et à la même heure.
En raison de la pandémie qui sévit encore, veuillez :
–porter un masque
–maintenir une certaine distance avec les autres
Des rafraîchissements seront servis. BYOB.

Veuillez confirmer votre présence avant le vendredi 20 mai.

A lot has happened since the start of creating an interpretation panel in the past 3 years. Whew!
I’m pleased to say that this memento, which will honour the local ice harvesters and a significant part of Aylmer’s history, is ready to be unveiled.

You are cordially invited to attend this special event. Please read carefully the details below.

Wednesday May 25th – 5pm to 8pm
Location: Guertin Park, 33 rue Oscar-Guertin, Aylmer
Please bring a lawn chair and BYOB for after the event.
Incase of severe weather, we will hold this event on Thursday May 26.

Due to covid being still active, please:
–wear a mask
–keep a social distance from others
Refreshments will be served. BYOB
